Wally Reading Program

Tonight was the Warthogs Reading Program game.
This is where the kids have to read so many books to run bases and if they get a home run they get to walk the bases before the game. They make an announcement of the schools there and the have a parade with Wally the Warthog in the lean.
It's at the famous Ernie Shore Field (ever see Field of Dreams? It's at the end of the movie where he is at the ball field)

To bad this field is not going to be here much longer. The city is building a new one so not sure what will happen to this one.

Anyway, here are some pictures of them walking the bases

That is Amy in the brown shirt in front of Jason (that is his future wife)

Then we settled down for hot dogs, chips and soda for dinner

Then they had some fun on the carousel ride

Quick pose with Wally the Warthog

Then we left at about the 4th inning so that the adult could get something good for dinner and warm up as the wind picked up and it was getting cold

We came back for Fireworks at about 9:00
Here we are waiting for them under blankets to keep warm

This is how Alex watches the fireworks, laying on daddy saying OOOO, AAAHHH
